Redcar Athletic v Brompton Juniors
1April, 2016

After the bad weather of late it was nice to see a game played in good footballing conditions. Redcar started the brightest as Jey Draper broke through early only to be stopped by an excellent challenge on the edge of the box. Brompton began to ease into the game playing some nice football only to be hit on the break after quick thinking from Mathew Steyert in the Redcar goal. After collecting the ball he played a quick kick down field for Jey to run onto and finish well. Redcar then took control of the game playing some excellent football before Jey made it 2-0 on 10 minutes. Both teams continued to battle but few chances were created and it remained 2-0 at half time.

The 2nd half saw Brompton control the ball for the first few minutes as they looked to get back into the game, they almost pulled one back after 20 minutes had it not been for an excellent block from Ben Askins which saw the ball diverted for a corner kick. Redcar then created a couple of excellent chances, firstly from Jey and then from Noah but both shots were fired off target. The game was put beyond Brompton in the 25th minute when Archie Parkes broke clear of the Brompton midfield and played a through ball to Jey who completed his hat-trick and secured a 3-0 victory.
