About

How Oliver's Started

Welcome to Oliver’s Fish and Chip Redcar: Takeaway & Restaurant.  The Takeaway operates 11am – 7pm Monday to Sunday.  The Restaurant is open 11am – 5pm Thursday to Sunday and it is advised to book in advance if you are coming with a large party to avoid any disappointment.

We are a family run business owned by Michael and Helen Roberts, proud co-owners of Oliver’s – the business we were inspired to rename following the birth of Oliver. Oliver’s Papa (Michael) has over twenty years of experience in the Fish & Chip Industry and of operating in the Redcar, Marske and Guisborough areas.

Based on Bath Street, comfortably sandwiched between the High Street and the seafront, close to the town’s Water Fountains and The Palace Hub. With a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, our Takeaway is a big hit with locals and day-trippers alike. We have a wide selection of food items and meal deals to take your fancy, alongside a large selection of cold and hot drinks.

Oliver’s is our pride and passion, and fish and chips is what we do – having learned the skill of frying from his father, Michael is a passionate fryer. We believe our fish – with its light, crispy batter – is unique.

Our Suppliers

Want to know about how it all happens?

We aim to provide our customers with nothing less than the best fish and chips, not only in Redcar but along the entire North-East coast.  Our fish with its light, crispy batter is unique and partnered with our fluffy potatoes you will have the best combination.

All our Cod and Haddock items are sourced from sustainable and well managed fishing grounds and Oliver’s is the only Takeaway & Restaurant in Teesside to be MSC Certified, so make sure to check out the ‘blue fish’ sign

Our main Fish supplier is Collins Seafood and back in October 2023 I had an amazing opportunity to visit one of the main fishing vessels and suppliers to Collins – Kirkella.  Kirkella has always been a key source of fish for us as a business and is a British Cod and Haddock freezer trawler that is based in Kingston – upon – Hull, England.  This was a fantastic opportunity to visit the vessel alongside Collins, the day was extremely informative and a huge eye opener into the process on how our fish is caught and prepared.

For our potatoes our main supplier is P&P Potatoes who are based on a farm in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire.  Supplying our weekly suppliers of potatoes, we work closely with them on sourcing the best quality potatoes so we can produce that perfect chip.  Throughout the season we can use a selection of potatoes from Sargittas, Pipers, Agira, Scutts to name but a few.

We cook all of our food items in the best quality ‘beef dripping’ – so sorry but we can no longer offer a veggie option.

Oliver's Awards

We have many avenues of where customers can leave their feedback – Trip Advisor, Facebook, our two Google listings (Takeaway & Restaurant) and we are proud to be listed on the ‘Good Food Award’ website –Restaurant and Takeaway.

In recognition of this achievement, we are delighted to confirm that Oliver’s Fish and Chips Restaurant and Takeaway have made it into the annual Good Food Awards for yet another year running and have attained the accolade “2023 Good Food Award Winner for Fish & Chips – Takeaway & Restaurant.” This is a great achievement and one which could not have been achieved if not by the hard work and commitment from our wonderful staff and also the support, and custom of our regular customers – once again ‘Thank You’
